Growing In My Heart
“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing." Deuteronomy 10:18
From the moment we decided to adopt, a peace washed over my soul. Together, Michael and I are walking out this journey together. Although it hasn't been an easy one, I am grateful the Lord has drawn us closer to Him and each other as we go step by step.
Infant adoption was originally Michael's idea. Somewhere out there is baby in need of a family to love her and him. We pray for them each day. We imagine our future little girl with pigtails and that infectious grin one day as she watches a kid's movie with Michael. Or an adorable baby boy with soft, brown eyes crawling on the carpet. The future holds great joy for both of us. Thank-you for being a part of our adventure!
An Adventure
“Every day is fresh with no mistakes in it." Miss Shirley from Anne of Green Gables
We dream about our little one. Will they have brown eyes or blue? Will they be a social butterfly or a quiet one? Will they be born with hair or not? Will their eyes sparkle when they smile? Will they know how much we love them before we ever meet? God is teaching us what it means to have His heart...by enlarging ours.
And then, there's the practical questions. Will Michael change a diaper? Will I get enough sleep? Will my mother-in-law save the day and give me a few mornings off? Will I have the strength to raise a baby as we grow older? (Yes, by God's grace.) Will we be good parents?
I can only imagine what a first time parent feels like. Many parents wish for a manual that comes with their child...to know how to best raise them. Yet, I am grateful God has done a work in both Michael and me. We are parents later in life because the Lord tempered us first...He continues to teach us patience, kindness, longsuffering, sacrifice and unending love...
